Most people prepare for the physical demands of caregiving — the lifting, the scheduling, the logistics. But the emotional weight is often what catches people off guard. Grief, guilt, love, and exhaustion can all exist at the same time, and that's completely normal. Caregivers often feel guilty for needing a break, or sad watching someone they love decline. Acknowledging those feelings isn't weakness — it's part of the journey. Talking to a counselor, joining a support group, or even just venting to a trusted friend can make a world of difference. Your emotional health matters just as much as the person you're caring for.
